Aramid

Overview

Aramid is a short term for aromatic amide and refers to a reinforced fiber with tensile strength five times as strong as iron given the same weight, light weight, excellent heat resistance, and low cut resistance. This product is very widely used in industries that require high strength and lightweight materials. The company’s aramid brand is called “Heracron®”.

Ballistic-protection
Used in bullet-proof helmets, insert plates, vests, military vehicle armors etc.
Protective Apparel
Used in cut-resistant gloves, firefighter equipment, etc.
FOC (Fiber Optics Cables)
Used in premise/distribution cables, loose-tube type aerial cables, ripcords, water-block yarns, etc.
Composites
Used in civil engineering, aircraft structural body parts and cabin panels, boats, sporting goods, etc.
MRG (Mechanical Rubber Goods)
Used in automotive and industrial hoses, power transmission belts, tire cords (racing automobiles, off-road, buses, and trucks), etc.

Dr. Yoon, Hansick of KAIST, develloped Para-Aramid pulp basic technology

Para-Aramid development selected as national project, KIST and KOLON launched joint development project for commercialization

Ran pilot

Development of Para-Aramid pilot technology completed

Established procedure for Para-Aramid pulp manufacturing on Pilot-scale
