Aramid

Overview

Aramid is short for "aromatic amide". It refers to the reinforced fiber in light weight with the tensile strength five times stronger than the iron of same weight with high heat resistance and low cutability. Due to its characteristics, it presents high value for use in industries in request of high strength, flame resistance and light weight. "Heracron®" is a trademark of aramid fiber manufactured by Kolon Industries.

Features and Uses

Ballistics
이미지 Body armor protects people exposed to extreme conditions, including army operations, special forces training and battle fields. Based on proven results from many scientific studies, Heracron® offers customized solutions to protect valuable life and equipment, as well as ensures maximized survivability in the life threatening environment..

-Main applications: bullet-proof helmets, insert plates, vests, milittary vehicles

Fiber Optical Cables
이미지 Fiber optic cables should be robust enough to withstand the pressure, impact and other environmental conditions. The high elasticity of Heracron® contributes to enhancing the durability of the optical cable. In line with the expansion of demand for high-performance optical cables facilitating next generation telecommunication infrastructure, Kolon Industries meets various demands from the global market.

Mechanical Rubber Goods
이미지 Heracron® is widely used as reinforcement to support industrial materials such as tire cord, rubber hose, and conveyor belt.

Friction&Sealing
이미지 Heracron®'s resistance to high temperature and high pressure makes it suitable for use as a friction material.
Due to its excellent heat resistance, high strength and fibrillation properties, it is used as a key ingredient in materials that require friction characteristics such as brake pads, linings, clutch faces, and gaskets. As Heracron® is eco-friendly and harmless to the human body compared to the existing friction materials, the range of its application is expanding.

-Main applications: replacement for Asbestos, automotive and industrial gaskets, brake pads and linings
-Recommended product types : PULP
Protective apparels
이미지 High level of protection is required for human body to survive a severe and hazardous working environment. Heracron® improves the heat resistance and durability of protective apparel/gloves and helps secure life and safety in harsh working conditions.

-Main applications: cut resistant gloves, flame resistant mattress, and firefighting equipment
-Recommended product types : Staple, Spun yarn, Dope Dyed
Composite
이미지 Heracron exists in order to provide human beings with safety all around in the sky, on the ground and in the sea. Heracron® is used from aircraft parts to marine vessels where durability as well as weight reduction is required. Physical weight of Heracron® fiber may be light, but the value that can be secured with it is never light.
